Working on tightening up this website and putting the finishing touches on Motherfister before sending it out to distributors later this week. I'm excited and probably 10x more frustrated by how slowly things have been progressing. Tell ya what, though - I've learned a hell of a lot more about recording, mixing, and mastering. You'd think that this new and valauble experience would've helped get this stupid album out way earlier but, alas, that ol' devil debt has wrenched me back out into the work force. Yet more precious time of existence in this realm seemingly wasted.

So it goes - MFR will rock and future recordings more so.

Working as goddamn hard as I can right now. About halfway done recording MOTHERFISTER. I expect to be finished tracking toward the end of the month, hopefully much sooner. The songs are starting to sound like songs - good songs, at that. I'm a little excited. Still have a couple videos ideas in mind, stuff that likely wouldn't materialize until a few months after the album is out. The script and storyboards for the "Weiner-Dog Land" video have been completed and we're just waiting for a convenient time to film it. I'll keep ya posted. Have a pleasant afternoon!

The demand is there - numbers don't lie. I'm in the process of writing a script for a music video for "Weiner-Dog Land". I don't want to give away too much, but both kids and adults will enjoy. It'll premiere on the VESAN YouTube page.

Cliché as it may sound, life is too short to sit around with your thumbs up your ass waiting for Jesus or E.T. to come down and save you from your miserable existence.

I'll never consider my existence miserable, but it's time I shave off the dead skin and shine pink in the sun.... Considering going all in (or, at best, what I can afford) and making a real go of the V-thing (at least, earlier than I'd so cautiously planned). Life has been changing in so many ways since I paid the gov and a surprising number of short-term and long-term endeavors are coming into fruition - blossoming frantically (global warming, no doubt). Lately, the network has been buzzing more than it has since I could remember - it's amazing to see where a few mildly-adventurous investments and gambles (none to do with making money) have led over the past few months. I read a quote recently that touched on what's going on at the moment - "The way to stay young... is to make a quantum jump every so often and land yourself in a new reality-matrix". That's kinda what's happening right now. Long story short, the next 4-5 months should be quite interesting.

Scratchboard Fred's Dream Date Diddle-E has just yesterday be re-released for the second (and, hopefully, last) time through CD Baby and will be available worldwide through many vendors (back on Amazon MP3, back on iTunes, now on Rhapsody, etc, etc), bringing all the goodness that is this music to one central hub.

Can't find the words to describe how cool last night was. Felt everything went better than anticipated. Didn't fall apart. Got stronger as the night went on. Better feeling than any drug or halfway decent sex. Different feeling for sure, but the type I'll take over any other, just about. Very happy that a good number of friends made it out. That made the night, seriously. Thank you. Thanks to Dave and Shannon for helping me out too - hope it was fun. I want to thank Randy Niles, too, for graciously enduring my antics - and his set was excellent as well. Talented performer and songwriter.

Now, moving on....

February 7, 2010

I'm starting to really look forward to the show this Saturday. Will be interesting, of course, if nothing else. I did get a feeling this morning, however, that I'd really like to bear down and work on the next album after this show passes. It's not in my best interest to be worrying about booking a ton of shows at the moment. My plans are, and have always been, a little different than pretty much everybody else trying to do this for a profession. More on that some other time....snow's gotta go.

I take that back. The new album will blow your mind. That is, if you have a mind to blow (and if you're into hard rock). Just finished setting up demos for each song and now the arduous task (but one I revel in) of writing and practicing the drum parts, etc. When all is said and done, this album will sure take my playing up a level or two. About g.d. time.

If there's one thing I should feel ashamed for in the past decade, it's that I haven't really gotten all that "better" at the guitar. Smarter on it, yes, ever so slightly, but not faster or more accurate or technical, nor has my theoretical vocabulary on the guitar improved much. There's always been a method to my madness, to be sure.

As I've set out to do all these years, I'll attain my performance and compositional breakthroughs on my own terms, by the schedule and pace I outlined (and perpetually re-outline). Encouraging part is, there's no end in sight to this evolution and, in fact, it's apparent for the first time that it's picking up a little speed. Oh yeah.

Wow, okay. So much has been going on in the past month. My sister had baby on X-mas - congratulations to her and my brother-in-law.

Other random tidbits include the confirmation of a VESAN show! On Sat. February 13, 2010 at the Barrington Coffee House in Barrington, NJ (sadly) the first official VESAN is on! Yeah, it's taken me almost 10 years, but I'm finally gonna do a real gig with this stuff. I'm excited and, believe me, this will be one to remember. More details in the next few weeks.

In addition to the joys of a new niece and a first show, I've been in my usual random, unfocused way going about rehearsing songs for the new album, which I'm quite sure you will dislike. Oh well. Oooh, yeah, and I've just begun (many years too late, of course) to publish my classical pieces - on the web. There will most definitely be links on my DISCO page to these fine, fresh works. Either way, they'll be published and available to the world and (in my mind) as good as recorded, so that's one more less thing to have a spaz attack over. (wide grin)

How are you?

November 22, 2009

Been in a great, dense fog for awhile now. As usual, trying to do too many things at once - creating trouble. Regarding VESAN, I've just recently started rehearsing and writing drum parts for the upcoming Motherfister album, and it's going well so far! Having a blast and you'll love the energy and grooves, can't wait! Other than that, I'll commence writing (in other words, finishing) the last two songs I've yet to complete for Motherfister, as well as hopefully picking up where I left off on the Sweat N Sequins material and stuff on the psychedelic joint.

I don't know what's wrong with me. I really don't sometimes.

Believe me, not that I'm pushin' it, but Disposable is available digitally for the first time. There are some charming things about the album's music and sound, but it's not worth it. Another facet of Vesan. Black sheep of the family maybe?...Hold on now, Motherfister ain't out yet.

Trying to get the article up. In fact, I do have something. Why don't you check it out? You're on my site - you must not be doing anything terribly important right now anyway, right?
